Once a month house cleaning?

I've been reading on a couple different blogs about the idea of doing ONCE A MONTH house cleaning.

This really appeals to me. I hate cleaning... I like creating mess by cooking, crafting and playing- but I hate cleaning the mess up.

Ok- so in order to make once a month cleaning work, you must still do some cleaning throughout the month. You can not leave your laundry all month and then expect to complete it all in one day. But you can leave your sheets. You can not leave your bathroom counter all month either, but you can wipe it quick once a week and give it a deep clean once a month. Get the concept.

Is it possible? Is it just a crazy idea?

I think it would really help me let go of that nagging guilt that sits in the back of my mind... knowing that there is a specified day that I will vaccuum, and it will get done.

Quick House Cleaning Tips
The other thing I was thinking about this, is that it may be impossible with young children in the house. From what I have read, these women are relying on their older(ish) kids to help with the maintenance quite a bit, and with young kids this may not work. And young kids are often walking tornados too, creating a lot more mess.

Here is where I've been reading about this idea----Simple Homeschool (there are 3 posts, so make sure to read them all),  Steady Mom , and Nature Moms.

What do you think? Have any of you tried something like this?
